Ault, Charles L. 65 01/09/1945 11/24/2010 Charles Leslie Ault died unexpectedly Nov. 24, 2010, of cardiac arrest at the age of 65. Chuck was born to Jake and Inez Ault in January 1945, the eldest of three children. Graduating from Jefferson High School in 1963, he went on to a career as an officer with the Portland Police Bureau retiring in 1999 after 30 years of service. Thereafter and until his death he was employed by Portland Patrol Inc., supporting the bureau in downtown Portland. In 1994 Parade Magazine honored Chuck as one of America's top police officers for the year, noting, "during his 24-year career, Ault nabbed 32 bank robbers-10 in 1993 alone" which earned him "acclaim not only from the FBI, but also from banks across America." A classic car enthusiast throughout his life, Chuck became a devoted member of the Mustang Wranglers and regularly displayed his 1966 Mustang Fastback in regional car shows and events. He also enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren, whom he adored. Chuck's loss is mourned by his fianc‚e Christy Hoffman; children, Ian Charles and Daedra Brandy; son-in-law, Justin Buntin; grandchildren, Adrienne, Jake, and Ruby; colleagues; extended family, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, J. Dean Ault. A celebration of life gathering will be held at 11 a.m Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, in the Willamette Room of the West End Building, 4101 Kruse Way, Lake Oswego, OR 97035.

Chuck was my best friend through high school! Our lives took us in different directions after school...but over the years he has remained and always will remain my best friend!  I miss him regularly even today and hope that someday we can renew our friendship!  for me best friends only come once...I will always regret having let lifes travels keep me from my good friend!    See you  again someday chuck.....Al Reed
