Bispham, Roger David 68 Feb. 10, 1945 April 02, 2013 Roger David Bispham, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, friend and fellow Burner passed on to the other camp, surrounded by his loved ones on April 2, 2013 at the age of 68. He was born on Feb. 10, 1945 to Royal and Winnifred Bispham. He was a proud native Oregonian living in and around the Portland area. Roger had one older brother that he lovingly referred to as "Tommy". He attended Jefferson High School where he proudly wore #28 on the football field and was All City. A great and loyal friend, the relationships he formed while at school remain today. He graduated in 1963 with a football scholarship and attended Portland State University for a short time. He spent four months traveling the world as a Merchant Marine, returning home shortly before the birth of his first child, Angela Christine Bispham in 1965. Three years later, son, Travis James Douglas Bispham, was born to then wife, Christine. Roger was an avid sportsman that loved the outdoors. His children and grandchildren have many fond memories of camping, hiking, gold mining, caving, fishing and beachcombing. He also enjoyed golfing with friends and family. Nephews and nieces know "Uncle Rog" as funny, smart and full of joy. In 1990, Roger returned to Portland State University and finished his degree in English with a minor in International Studies. During this time, he began working as a Longshoreman and was a proud member of the ILWU Local 8. He retired in 2007. In 1998, Roger met Dorsi, the love of his life. Not one to slow down, Roger and his wife traveled to China, Tibet, Portugal and explored Bispham, England. They enjoyed numerous trips to the Sea of Cortez in the Baja and touring the Western U.S. In 2009, Roger hiked the trail to Machu Pichu breaking his ankle along the way, but this did not stop him. Roger is survived by his wife of 14 years, Dorsi; daughter, Angela Bispham; son, Travis Bispham; and daughter-in-law, Leslie; stepdaughters, Carolyn Craner and Aubrey Brown; brother, Thomas Bispham; sister-in-law, Jean; brother-in-law, Richard Ward and wife, Linda; 13 grandchildren, Heidi (Tanya), John Roger, Tristan, Austin, Latasha, Kabrea, Karleigh, Trey, Melaine, Chloe, Anna, Lilly; and great-grandson, Camron King; many nephews, nieces and friends. Though he was taken from us too soon, we know that a life with so much joy and love never really ends but is etched on the hearts of all who remember. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Sah-Hah-Lee Golf Course on April 27, 2013 1-4 p.m. In lieu of donations, please Pay It Forward…
